| 1933 | Jungle memories. New York & London, Whittlesey House, McGraw-Hill: xiii + 388. —Describes, in somewhat overblown terms, an encounter with a manatee near the falls of the Rio Madeira, Brazil (324-325). The animal had "immense, round, staring eyes" (!), and "a long and thick horn" on either side of the head which was evidently the flipper. The accuracy of the author's memories seems open to question. |
