Briefly reviews other fossil sirs.; Rhytina is phyletically derived from Crassitherium, manatees and dugongs from Halitherium. Metaxytherium Lovisati is thought synonymous with Halitherium fossile. Also illustrates (138, pl. 1, fig. 7) a putative "new species" of Halitherium represented by two upper molars from the "Calcaire Grossier de Bazas (?)", a Lutetian (Middle Eocene) deposit. | ||
